TAP

Tap dance is the most effective way to develop precision in rhythmic movement and sound.

Pupils love the challenge presented by tap – they also love the sound.

Early exposure to the rhythms and unique mind-to-foot connection associated with tap dance will allow students to progress and excel at the art as they move through life.

PRE GRADES

Rosette 2 Tap

The next step up from Rosette 1. More focus is given on basic technique and learning to dance independently.  The class teacher will be in the exam room, and every child receives a special rosette at completion. Must be turning 6 or older in exam's year.

Rosette 3 Tap

The next step from Rosette 2. More focus is given on basic technique and learning to dance independently.  The class teacher will not be in the exam room, their first exam without their teacher. Every child receives a special rosette at completion and a grading from the examiner. Must be turning 7 or older in exam's year.

AMERICAN TAP

Tap Examinations are available in Levels One to Nine plus the Solo Performance Diploma. Choreographed by Keith Clifton (USA) the NZAMD American Tap offers students and the necessary training and progression to become an accomplished tap dancer and there are many NZAMD trained tap dancers performing in theatres around the world.

Keith Clifton’s choreography develops an exciting rhythmical array of beats throughout the levels, taking NZAMD tap well into the 21st century.

The syllabus is suitable for dancers from 7 years to adults. The American Tap consists of barre work, centre work, and set or teachers’ own choreographed dances.

UNIFORM

An enforced dress code helps in many ways. By wearing a uniform the dancer understands that they are going to a structured class which in turn

helps to develop the right mindset. A uniform gives the teacher the ability to see the lines and shapes the dancer is creating and to fix any incorrect technique.  Being dressed all the same also creates an identity and sense of belonging to the studio.

Please check disciplines for correct attire.
